The Oregon coast is great for loners looking for solitude and quiet walks. But it is made for family and friends. There is just so much beauty and so much to see and do you don’t want to be there alone.

Jenny’s side of the family spent the Fourth of July on McPhillips Beach. Jenny’s brother Rob and Rob’s son Caleb drove their trucks onto the beach. It was the first time I had experienced that. Here is a video I posted on Facebook of the jeeps and our family on McPhillips Beach.

We had a lovely day there with family.

Grandpa Ron fished.

There was a lot of sitting and talking, taking selfies and walking the sandy beach.

We watched people fly their gliders of the top of the cliff/dunes.

There were lots of other people on the beach. We met many of them. A highlight was some pet pigs that we were introduced to. My daughter Jackie was delighted.

And we enjoyed the splendid views.

It was an altogether lovely day.

My painting is based on a photograph I took of some friends wading into the cold waters on that hot day.
