Sharing Beauty Through Art, Books and Film
Studio Tour Opening Weekend Report

Studio Tour Opening Weekend Report

Sunnyshore Studio had great traffic the first weekend of the Studio Tour: 249 guest of Friday, 265 guests on Saturday, and 272 guests on Sunday. Our sales, on the other hand, were a bit sluggish. Through the first three days (of five total), we sold just over 12K of art, prints, cards, books, posters, etc. For comparison, total sales for the five days in were 29K in 2023. We are nowhere near that mark. But we are thrilled that we can cut our artists checks that encourage them to keep keeping on in their creative work. Congratulations for Jack Dorsey who is our top seller thus far at $4,149.

Most of all we want to thank the family and friends, the collectors and patrons, and all who love our island and its artists for your support. We couldn’t share beauty through art books and film without you.

People like this neighbor who bought one of my original watercolors of the sunset from the cliff above Mabana Beach.

This neighbor who bought one of Jerry Stitt’s luminous watercolors. Jerry passed away last year and we are honored to have over 100 of his original watercolors for sale at VERY AFFORDABLE PRICES.

These neighbors who bought my painting of the overlook at the south end of Camano.

This collector who bought one of my Dad’s paintings that was hanging on the wall in my studio area. After I had sold it Jenny said, “I think your Dad gave that to us as a gift.” I guess I’m going to have to ask Dad for another painting to take it’s place.

These friends who came all the way from Bellevue to see our studio. Ray taught me how to play pickleball a few years ago when I was just beginning. We watch Ray and Christie’s dog Skye when they are traveling.

I love to see Stanwood High Classmates at the Studio. Brandi graduated a year before I did. We participated in school plays led by the indomitable Mr Good and she can still remember a song he taught the class.

My friend Dismas, owner of #ThisCoffeeLife, and his kids were at the studio last weekend making pour over coffee for our guests and artists. He kept us fueled. He’s been buying one of our youngest artist’s, Willow’s, paintings every year for the last few years.

These collectors bought one of my mom’s prints, making her very happy, and I hope they are happy with the painting too.

It was thrilling to meet some neighbors from our Avignon Townhouse community who made the drive to Camano, and even bought some art! This painting is by my dad. And there’s a fun story behind it. Dad and Jenny made a bet over this painting. Jenny was encouraging Dad to paint flowers for Mother’s Day, but instead he painted this mushroom. Jenny bet Dad 5$ that he would not sell the mushroom. Well, Dad sold it, but there is some debate over if it sold because Dad offered such a great price 🙂

Joanna, the new Executive Director of the Stanwood Camano Art Advocacy Commission bought one of my paintings of a sunbreak at the ocean. That was very encouraging!

This collector bought one of my brother Jed’s beautiful acrylics.

This collector bought one of my watercolors of wild roses. It is part of the series I’m doing along the Sammamish River.

And my favorite story of all. John and Vicky Ringen stopped by the studio. John is a legendary northwest artist, who still paints daily at his studio an mile south of Sunnyshore. This is the first year that he doesn’t have his studio open to guests on the Studio Tour, which is understandable because he is well into his nineties. We are showcasing three of his beautiful watercolors. And he and his wife Vicky bought two of Jerry Stitt’s watercolors, one framed, and this unframed painting. For John to want to support an artist who studied under him, and who passed on in 2024, shows the kind of community and support that is shared among artists.

Thank you to all of our friends and family, patrons and collectors, who keep our studio sharing beauty through art, books and film. We couldn’t do it without you. And stop by and see us this Saturday and Sunday, your partnership is deeply meaningful to us.

Here’s a video I made to say thanks.
