Below each painting is its (1) title, (2) size, (3) price/or it will be listed as SOLD, (4) if it is framed or gallery wrapped canvas (at the end of the show we have included images of the framed paintings as well as photos of what we mean by “gallery wrapped canvas”), and (5) a short description about the painting. Note that the price of the painting does not include shipping and handling.  If you are unable to pick your painting up, we will ship it to you and add on the cost of shipping and handling.

1. Dappled Light, Old House – 18×24 – SOLD – framed
Having traveled back to Indianapolis for a couple painting events, I stood across the street and painted this one morning as the sun filtered through the trees.
2. Alley Sunshine – 18×24 – $650 – framed
We lived five blocks from Willow’s school in Indianapolis, and one evening I walked home from an event there and came across this beautiful back-alley scene.

3. Early Snow, Kananaskis – 18×24 – SOLD – framed
Twelve inches of snow fell early in Kananaskis Country when I was there for Fall Color Week with dozens of other artists from around the country. It meant colder weather, but it was sure beautiful.
4. Beacon in the Night – 12×16 – SOLD
Plein air competitions bring things out of me that I don’t do in my normal routine. That’s one of the reasons I like them so much. This was painted well after the sun had fallen and I would have normally been in bed.
5. Soft Day, Camano Crossing – 24×36 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
After we moved back to Camano Island this spring, I went to my favorite spot early on a windy, misty morning and soaked in the atmosphere. This painting arose out of that experience.
6 – A New Beginning – 36×48 – $1750 – gallery wrapped canvas
We started a new journey when we moved back to Camano Island from Indianapolis. In some ways we left home, and in other ways we came home. This painting of a beautiful sunrise at Iverson Beach represents that new beginning that happens every day, just like it is happening for us at this stage.

7 – Saying Goodbye – 16×20 – $550 – framed
I loved the old homes in Indianapolis. They had character. They held stories. I wonder what these walls would tell us. Many people have lived here, many people have had to say goodbye. Just like we did to our home when we left Indianapolis.

8 – Where Time Stands Still – 18×24 – SOLD
Since Renae is from Edmonton, Alberta, we have spent a fair amount of time in the Canadian Rockies over the years. I was glad to be back there recently. I stood in a small park and looked up at the vast mountains near Kananaskis, AB. They seemed so grand and stately. And unchangeable. I wondered how long they had looked like they do. I tried to represent some of that grandeur in this painting.
9 – Getting Away – 11×14 – $250 – framed
The mountains can feel like a second home sometimes. I have many great memories from different times staying in cabins or lodges with friends or family. When I saw this road, I thought how great it has been on those occasions to get away from the normal routine and enjoy those times with special people.

10 – Almost Hidden – 16×12 – SOLD – framed
I painted this on location in a beautiful, old neighborhood in Michigan City, IN with large trees that both shaded and glistened. The sun moves quickly, so I painted with vigor and directness. And while I loved the location and beauty of that area, it was the end of a long trip, and I looked forward to coming home more than staying.

11 – Old Northside – 12×16 – SOLD
Our first home when we moved to Indianapolis in 2010 was in this historic neighborhood. Our daughter was born when we lived there, and I walked through these streets many times with her wrapped up tight inside of my coat with her head poking out. I loved the vibrant colors of beautiful homes set against the snowy streets.
12 – Last Stand – 11×14 – SOLD – framed
These mountain houses, set against the sheer Canadian Rockies, appear as a refuge in the rugged setting where snow comes early and stays late. You have to be pretty tough to endure the cold of winter here, but the beautiful view makes it worth the effort. I painted this on my last trip to Banff.
13 – Down The Long Hill – 16×12 – $450 – framed
I love this hill. It’s the kind of hill where kids throw their hands in the air and say “WHEEEE” when their parents drive down it. I remember how big it looked to me as a child, and it regained its glory when we moved back from the flat lands of Indiana.

14 – Sidetracked, Capitol Hill – 18×24 – $750 – framed
I love alleys. What more can I say? This one is close by in Seattle.

15 – Late Sun, Laconner – 16×20 – $550 – framed
The Puget Sound has more boat owners per capita than anywhere in the U.S. At least that’s what someone told me. I believe it, and I am happy to be one of them now myself. This scene of fishing boats in LaConner caught the sun and caught my eye also. I had to paint it.

16 – Skagit Summer – 24×36 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
That time when you’re driving through the valley and come around a pass and look up and there it is. Does it get any more beautiful than our area in the summer?
17 – Twilight, Mabana Beach – 36×36 – $1350 – gallery wrapped canvas
Our first evening back on Camano Island found us at one of my favorite beaches, the hidden gem of Mabana. After walking and climbing and playing there for an hour or two, we hiked back up the hill to where we had parked that time. I turned around and looked back to see the sunset reflecting it’s glory on the far clouds. I was happy to relive that time in this painting.

18 – Dawn of the Endless Summer, Iverson Beach – 24×36 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
Words can’t describe the beauty of that morning as the sun came up slowly over the Cascade Mountains and washed the earth with its colors. If I relay one percent of that hour in this painting, I will have succeeded greatly.
19 – Red Sky at Night – 36×48 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
Home is where the heart is. For many of us, this is when we know we’re home.
20 – Tucked Away – 24×48 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
Growing up on an island was a great privilege, and I didn’t know it at the time. Many people dream of such a thing. I’m happy to be back in such a great place, and to let it remain, in many ways, just as it was when I was young.

Up in the alpine air, sometimes it is overwhelming to gaze upon the grandeur of a mountain range and try to imagine how to fit that onto a small canvas. So, I turned around and saw a small pathway through the trees with sunlight streaming through. No less glorious, but easier for me to capture before the light changed.
22 – The Way to Vermillion Lakes – 12×24 – SOLD – gallery wrapped canvas
Approaching Banff from the west, just off Highway 1, there is a small road with the best viewpoints. This scene has become a favorite of mine as a result.
23 – When You Were Gone – 16×20 – $450 – framed
English Boom at sunset. It wasn’t quite the same without my family, but it was still beautiful.

24 – Dad’s Woodshed, Mom’s Flowers – 16×12 – SOLD – framed
This says a lot about how I grew up. Mom and Dad both work hard and both love beauty. And they give and give and give. I hope I can be like them when I grow up.
25 – Neighbors – 18×24 – SOLD – framed
I remember a poem that said “good fences make good neighbors”. Well, I loved these houses that backed up to each other. They didn’t have any fences. It looked almost like they all shared the same yard, and they had several barbeque grills out there for summer nights. I want to be a community builder, with or without fences.
26 – Big Red – 12×12 – SOLD – framed
At an outdoor event last month, I painted this with a friend as we were chatting. It reminded me of another good friend who was a long-haul trucker for many years. He often shared photos with me that he had taken on his long trips. I can imagine how one’s truck would become part of you over the years of being together, and I’m thankful for the men and women who do a job that serves us all.
27 – The Day I Met You – 16×40 – $750Â
On my way to meet a friend, the early sunlight mesmerized me. Needless to say, I was late.

28 – What Time Will Tell – 12×16 – $350
Years come and go and leave us. Some places stay the same, some don’t. English Boom is definitely one of my favorite places on Camano that I didn’t know about until a few years ago. Glad someone introduced me to it, and I’m glad it hasn’t changed since I first visited.
