About Sunnyshore Studio

Sunnyshore Studio is a creative studio on Camano Island, WA. Our mission is to share beauty through art, books, and film. 

History

• In 1969 Jack, Ann and Jason Dorsey move to lot 77 of Sunnyshore Studio to launch Jack’s career as a full-time artist. Jack converts a fox shed into a studio and calls it Sunnyshore Studio: Read story here.
• In 1988, Jack and Ann give Jason and Jenny a plot of land with a run down cottage a few hundred feet south of their home on Camano Island. Jason tears down the old cottage and dreams of building a studio to showcase his family of artists. Read story here.
• In 2008, Jason has the plot cleared and graded. He sketches out a vision for the building in a sketchbook. Read story here.
• In June 2010, Jason visits the Heaton Cooper Studio in Grasmere, England, an early model for what he dreamed Sunnyshore Studio would be: Read story here.
• In August 2010, Jason sees a house built by his friend Jim Spane that he models the architecture of Sunnyshore Studio after. Read story here.
• In December 2015, the Dorsey family holds a “groundbreaking” ceremony. Read story here.

• In May, 2016, we opened our doors for the Camano Studio tour in what we called our soft-opening. Read story here.
• In December 2016, we held our grand opening with the Beaches of Camano art show.
• In June 2017, Sunnyshore Studio launches the publishing wing of our creative studio. Read story here.

• In March 2018, we hold the first of five Vintage Watercolorists of Washington art shows named in honor of legendary artist Jack Dorsey. Read more here.
