Sunnyshore Studio is thrilled to announce that March 2023 will see the publication of Vintage Watercolorists of Washington that tells the stories of twenty legendary Washington artists. At more that two hundred pages, and with over sixty paintings showcased, this will be a major work documenting the history of watercolor in Washington.

“I’ve been working on this project for the last five years,” author Jason Dorsey says. “I’ve learned so much listening to the lives of these artists. I can’t wait to share their stories. I think it will be especially encouraging for young, emerging artists. It shows that there are as many paths in art as there are artists.”

This project has been a labor of love for Jason. “The book is gorgeous, a work of art,” he says. The first printing will be only 200 hardcover books. “That’s all we can afford. It will cost $38 per book to get them printed. That doesn’t include compensating my wonderful editor Sharilyn and graphic designer Jacob,” Jason says.

To cover the costs of making the book, Jason plans to launch a kickstarter campaign in December. “Many of the artists have donated paintings to be rewards for Kickstarter Supporters.” Stay tuned for more details on how you can order your copy and maybe even an original watercolor. “I expect the books to sell out fast,” Jason says.

Jason is thankful for the partnership with Sunnyshore Studio and the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). “NWWS has been very supportive all the way through this project,” Jason says. This book, and videos that will be released, will showcase the amazing watercolor tradition in Washington!
