Sunnyshore Studio is excited to participate in the Camano Art Association (CAA) Studio Tour. Camano Island is known for her colony of artists and the annual spring studio tour is the premier event of the year.  The tour draws visitors from thousands of miles away, as well as neighbors, family, and friends who simply drop by to offer support.  We welcome all to our beautiful island life where you’ll find creative minds, stunning scenery, and lots of places to grab some lunch or dinner.  The CAA Studio Tour began in 1999 with 14 venues listed on a single sheet of yellow paper.  The Camano Arts Studio Tour was the original “studio tour”, where artists invited guests into their working studios on Camano Island.  It has been deemed as North Puget Sound’s most celebrated art-related experience.

This year the Camano Studio Tour is back with a modified studio tour taking place June 25 – 27. More than 30 artists at 16 studios and four galleries are participating in this year’s tour – representing diverse talent and mediums, from ceramics and glass to paintings, photography and sculpture. And as visitors safely enjoy the reduced capacity venues and extended outdoor spaces to enhance social distancing, they will have the opportunity to again connect with the artists and the beautiful nature that makes this island so special.

Friday, June 25 – Sunday, June 27: 10am-5pm

Stop by and see our family of artists at Studio #3

You can discover the artists, studios and galleries that will be open for the 2021 Studio Tour here. Like most arts events across the country, last year’s studio tour had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. As plans for this year’s tour take shape, it is with the understanding that the arts community at-large has taken a significant hit as a result of the pandemic. According to a March 15 report from Americans for the Arts, financial losses to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations are an estimated $15.7 billion, to date. In addition, the report cites that 95% of artists have reported loss of income and 79% experienced a decrease in creative work that generated income. Historically, the studio tour is the single biggest tourist attraction for Camano Island so as artists here have felt the economic hardship of a year without the tour, so too have local businesses.

This year’s tour is a reminder to all that art still lives on Camano Island. And as visitors safely enjoy the reduced capacity venues and extended outdoor spaces to enhance social distancing, they will have the opportunity to again connect with the artists and the beautiful nature that makes this island so special.
