Washington State has been home to a host of distinguished watercolor artists such as Perry Acker, Jess Cauthorn, Victoria Savage, Arne Jensen, and Wes Broten to name just a few. NWWS is recognized as one of the ten most prominent regional watercolor societies in North America. In light of this rich tradition, Sunnyshore Studio is hosting five Vintage Watercolorists of Washington shows to honor twenty five master watercolorists who live in Washington State and who have enriched the cultural life of this place through their artwork. We also hope to inspire a new generation of watercolorists through showcasing their art. This years show is our third.

Artworks of five artists are showcased each March at Sunnyshore Studio’s Vintage Watercolorists of Washington show. Sunnyshore Studio creates a video sharing their story. These tributes will eventually be compiled into a full length documentary celebrating the vintage watercolorists of Washington. Their stories are also shared in a Sunnyshore Studio blog post and will be compiled into a coffee table book celebrating watercolor in Washington.

It is called the Jack Dorsey invitational in honor of the patriarch of Sunnyshore Studio and one of the vintage watercolorists of Washington today.

The opening reception of the 2020 Vintage Watercolorists of Washington is Saturday, March 7, 3-5pm. The Vintage show is open to the Public on Saturdays, March 7, 14, 21, 10am-5pm. Private viewings of the show can be arranged. Call Jason Dorsey, 317.209.6768
